I wouldn’t be surprised if Katy Perry’s sexy Elmo Tee shirt becomes a popular fashion item, even if the Sesame Street Fashion Police disapprove of Perry’s fashion sense.
If you haven’t already heard, the Katy Perry / Elmo, “Hot and Cold” video was banned from Sesame Street because of Perry’s sexy outfit. In recognition of the controversy, Katy Perry wore a tight Elmo tee shirt on Saturday Night Live. The ” Bronx Beat” Skit on SNL mocks the Sesame Street Scandal.

Katy Perry, Elmo Video was banned from Sesame Street.
A small group of parents complained that Perry was popping out of her dress while performing with Elmo. I watched the video with my 3 year old, and he loved it. I wouldn’t say that she is “popping” out of her dress, how ever she is a little jiggly when she runs. My 3 year old didn’t even notice, he was most interested with Elmo. I don’t think Elmo was prepared for all of this controversy. I personally am not offended by the video, in fact I think this type of puppet show might be an incentive for dad’s to spend extra time with the kids. As a mother of two boys, a teenager and a toddler, I can tell you this was a hit with both of them ( for different reasons).
This isn’t the first time puppets were involved in a sexy scandal. A bus add for the production of Broadway hit and Tony-winning Avenue Q, a naughty puppet show/musical hybrid was banned in Colorado.
LIfe is to short, we need to find a way to laugh at wardrobe malfunctions and puppet scandals.

A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that the teller’s name is Patricia Whack. So he says, “Ms. Whack, I’d like to get a loan to buy a boat and go on a long holiday” Patti looks at the frog in disbelief and asks how much he wants to borrow. The frog says $30,000. The teller asks his name and the frog says that his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it’s OK, he knows the bank manager. Patti explains that $30,000 is a substantial amount of money and that he will need to secure some collateral against the loan. She asks if he has anything he can use as collateral. The frog says, “Sure. I have this,” and produces a tiny pink porcelain elephant, about half an inch tall. Bright pink and perfectly formed. Very confused, Patti explains that she’ll have to consult with the manager and disappears into a back office. She finds the manager and says: “There’s a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000. And he wants to use this as collateral.” She holds up the tiny pink elephant. “I mean, what the heck is this?” The bank manager looks back at her and says:”It’s a knick knack, Patti Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man’s a Rolling Stone !”

What are you grateful for?
Gratitude is a positive emotion or attitude of acknowledgment.
Many link spirituality and gratitude. Some studies suggest that thinking grateful thoughts, directly benefits us mentally, emotionally and physically. A gratitude journal involves choosing thoughts of appreciation and gratitude on a regular basis. I am starting a gratitude journal, and decided to share it. I will be adding to my gratitude journal weekly, via comments to this post. I would love to hear what makes other people feel gratitude. Sharing feelings of gratitude can give them more value and reading other peoples posts can help provide perspective and inspiration. Leave a comment, and share what makes you feel grateful. Gratitude Journal: Week 1
There are so many little every day things that make me feel gratitude, however I feel like I should start with what the most important things in my life that I am grateful for.
I am grateful for my life.
I believe that life is a miracle, and that life in and of itself is a gift. Life is full of experiences good and bad, and they are all necessary. I know that even the life experiences I wish I never had, brought me to where I am today. I believe that the experiences I have today will lead me to an even better place. So every day, I am grateful for what life throws at me.
I am grateful everyday my kids are at home alive, safe and healthy.
Every time I see or hear of a missing child, my heart breaks and at the same time I am reminded not to take for granted that my children are home safe. There are so many parents that have lost their children or have children that are terminally ill. I will never take my children for granted, even when they are adults.
I am grateful for my health.
The world is full of people living with disabilities and illnesses, I appreciate my health and do my best to maintain it.
I am grateful for my family and friends.
Often we don’t appreciate what we have until it’s gone. When you lose someone you love, you understand this better than you would like. When I feel upset or angry with someone I care about, I remind my self that I would rather have them in my life with all their flaws, than not have them at all.
I am grateful that my brother made it home safely from the war in Iraq.
My “baby” brother was sent to fight for our country and there was absolutely nothing I could do to protect him. I watched the news every day, every second I was near a television, I was watching CNN or Fox news. I was watching to see if his face would appear or if his name would be mentioned, anything to let me know he was okay. When they would list the names of fallen soldiers, I would sit and wait, with the most painful anxiety. I would thank God every time, it wasn’t his name, but feel guilty because I knew that there was another family that was suffering a loss. It was TORTURE!
I am thankful for my husband.
I know I already said I am thankful for my family, but I feel lucky that I found somebody that loves and appreciates me. I am grateful that my husband is such a good father and a true family man.
I am grateful to live in this country.
I know that there are many places in the world that are a great place to live, however I know of many places I would not want to live, especially as a woman. I often wonder what my life might be like if I had been born somewhere else, and it makes me grateful that I was born in America.

Very Superficial
Penetrates to Stratum Corneum, Peeling is complete in 0-3 days. Very superficial peels can usually be done as often as once a week. This type of “peel”, generally produces little to no peeling and is ideal for anyone that can’t afford any downtime.
VIVITÉ® Glycolic Chemical Facial Peel is a buffered 70% glycolic compound. This is a very superficial peel, with little to no visible peeling. MICRO PEEL/AHA

If done incorrectly Chemical Peels can cause hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation and scars. You can find just about anything on the internet these days, however just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should. I can go to Home Depot and buy a bag of cement, that doesn’t make me qualified to pave your driveway.

Do go to an experienced skin professional with a successful reputation.
Be sure that the Esthetician or Physician is experienced with the type of peel you are having, and with your specific skin type.
Do precondition your skin.
If you are having a medium or deep peel, you should precondition in advance. Preconditioning usually involves using Tretinoin (Retin-A) and hydroquinone. The Obagi Nu-Derm system is ideal for preconditioning skin for a treatment. Start taking antiviral medications a few days before medium – deep peels, skin trauma can cause herpe blisters on face and lips (cold sores).
Don’t have a chemical peel if..
Don’t have a chemical peel if you are pregnant or on Accutane. Don’t have medium or deep peels on skin with active acne. Superficial peels are generally recommended when treating skin with acne.
Don’t exfoliate.
Don’t have exfoliating treatments or use exfoliating products until the recommended time, based on the depth of your peel. With medium and deep peels, you should wait at least 6 weeks before exfoliating.
Do follow post treatment instructions.
Use a gentle cleanser like Cetaphil, and a mild moisturizer. A hydrocortisone cream and antiseptic compresses may also be recommended. Aquaphor ointment can be used around areas like the mouth to prevent cracking from medium and deep peels. With medium and deep peels you should use a hydroquinone 4% or higher, after peeling has been completed. You may also be instructed to use tretinoin (Retin-A). Post treatment care varies depending on level of peel.
Don’t assist peeling.
Don’t pick, pull or prematurely remove peeling skin. Removing skin prematurely can cause complications including hyper and hypo pigmentation. Removing skin prematurely will also put you at increased risk for infection.
Do wait for skin to peel off on it’s own.
Treat the skin almost as if you are trying to keep the peeling skin on.
Don’t hesitate to call if you have questions or concerns.
If you are unclear about your post treatment instructions, or are concerned about your reactions contact your Esthetician.
Do avoid cracking and trauma.
Minimize making facial expressions, sleep on your back and avoid letting the shower hit you in the face.
Don’t expose your skin to heat or UV rays.
Avoid sun exposure and strenuous exercise until peeling is complete.
Do use a mineral powder with SPF.
Most cosmetics are contraindicated to cosmetic procedures, however mineral makeup can be used immediately after most cosmetic procedure. Mineral makeup such Jane Iredale has SPF protection and it is not irritating. Jane Iredale doesn’t contain talc, that can increase skin dryness.
Don’t forget to follow up with skin care professional
Your Esthetician can recommend products and follow up treatments to help enhance and maintain results. If you suspect any complications, contact your Esthetician immediately.
Do have realistic expectations.
If you are having a superficial or medium depth peel, do not expect the same results as a deep peel. Even a deep peel can not replace a facelift, if that’s what you need. It is the patients responsibility to follow post treatment instructions, non compliant patients can expect complications. Expect to peel!
