“Of all people, you know who I am…who the world needs me to be. I’m Wonder Woman.”
As a true Wonder Woman fan, I am excited to learn that the production of a new Wonder Woman Television series is in the works. The newest Wonder Woman television series will be writen and produced by David E. Kelley. Warner Bros is expected to launch the show on NBC. The role of Diana Prince aka Wonder Woman is rumored to be played by Adrianne Palik. I hope they will maintain the same Wonder Woman that nostalgic fans are familiar with. I hope to see a similar costume and her signature powers, Lasso of Truth, indestructible bracelets, her tiara and her invisible airplane.
“In your satin tights / Fighting for your rights / And the old Red, White, and Blue!… / Wonder Woman!”
The original TV series took place during World War II, and Wonder Woman’s altar ego, Diana Prince was a Navy enlisted First Class Petty Officer. Wonder Woman is actually Princess Diana from the hidden Paradise Island that is the home to a tribe of eternally young Amazon women. The women of Paradise Island are based on the Amazons of Greek mythology. When an American Soldier, Major Steve Trevor is shot down by a Nazi plane, he lands on the mythical Island and Princess Diana decides she must follow the Major back to the United States and help fight the Nazi’s. Wonder Woman has super human strength, bulletproof bracelets, and the golden lasso of truth.
The New Adventures of Wonder Woman aired from 1975-1979 and stared former Miss USA 1973 Lynda Carter.

Diana Prince changes into her Wonder Woman Costume by spinning at lightning speed. As a kid this was probably my favorite part of the show. I can’t tell you how many times I would wrap myself in a sheet or some type of make shift cape and spin in a circle, throwing the sheet off, revealing my Wonder Woman Underoo’s. During my transformation, I would yell ” Wonder Woman!”

Vintage 1970′s Wonder Woman Underoos in mint condition go for around $90.
I grew up watching shows like Wonder Woman, The Bionic Woman and Charlie’s Angels. I think that these types of show’s let girls know that you could be smart, strong, powerful and beautiful all at the same time. As a little girl, these shows inspired me to be more than a princess and certainly didn’t create any desire to be a damsel in distress. I didn’t need someone to be my hero, in my mind I was the hero and I should even protect others. Wonder Woman represented strength, virtue, and although she avoided violence she could kick some butt and look hot doing it. I look forward to the return of Wonder Woman and I hope that she will inspire todays girls to be more than a princess. Even if Diana was a princess, she was so much more, she was Wonder Woman.
“Go in peace my daughter. And remember that, in a world of ordinary mortals, you are a Wonder Woman.” Queen Hippolyte
